Karen’s Story

It all started when…

I had been working as a PT Assistant for 13 years and had reached the top rung of my ladder. My choices where to go back to college for my Masters in Physical Therapy or find a new career.  My kids were young and I did not want to spend most of their childhood juggling work and going back to school.  

One day I was working with a patient who was being ready to be discharged from PT.  He had frozen shoulder and I knew he needed ongoing care (most patients do when they are discharged from PT) so I told him he needed to find a good massage therapist.  He smiled and said, "Why don't you become a massage therapist and then I can keep seeing you." 

That was my lightbulb moment. 

Most massage places back in 1998 were spas and had little focus on post-rehab care or prevention.  I wanted to create that place; a place where people could come in for therapeutic massage to help with recovery as well as being a place for stress relief and preventative care.  And so my journey began. 

I went to night school for a little over a year and opened the doors of Rejuvenations Professional Massage on January 1st, 2000.
